  "biographicalOrHistoricalInformation" : [ "Nach erstem Zeichenunterricht durch den Vater in Mainz folgte Stieler nach dem frühen Tod des Vaters als Jugendlicher dem kurfürstlichen Hoflager nach Aschaffenburg.  Gefördert durch Freiherr Karl Theodor von Dalberg war er dort als Miniaturmaler tätig. 1798-1800 Lehre bei Christoph Fesel in Würzburg. 1802-1805 Studium an der K.K. Akademie der Künste in Wien bei Heinrich Füger. Es folgten Reisen und Arbeitsaufenthalte in Polen, Wien und Paris. 1807-1808 Studium bei Francois Gérard in Paris. 1808-1809 erfolgreiche Tätigkeit als Maler in Frankfurt/M. 1809-1812 Studium und Arbeitsaufenthalt in Italien. 1812-1820 Tätigkeit in München und Wien. 1820-1855 Hofmaler in München.\nStieler war in erster Ehe mit Pauline Luise Beckers verheiratet, mit ihr hatte er fünf Kinder. Nach Paulines Tod 1830 heiratete Stieler 1833 die Dichterin Josephine von Miller (1808-1890), mit ihr hatte er drei Kinder.\n" ],
