Seit 1585 war er Domherr und seit 1595 Domscholaster. Die Erzbischof-Wahl erfolgte am 15. 5. 1601; die päpstl. Bestätigung kam am 27. 8. 1601 und das Pallium wurde am 3. 2. 1602 überreicht. Bis zu seinem Tode hatte er nur die niedere Weihe als Subdiakon empfangen.
