Weil er sich zum Christentum bekannte, wurde er wahrscheinlich während der letzten Christenverfolgung unter Kaiser Diocletian in das röm. Militärgefängnis in Kastel verbracht, wo er um 303 an den Folgen von Quälereien und Hunger verstarb. Seine Gebeine wurden 777 in das neu gegründete Kloster Bleidenstadt/Ts. verbracht und sind spätestens seit der Säkularisation verschwunden (s. auch Mainzer Heilige). Festtag: 29.
